Restudy on the Relation Between Enterprise Size and R&D Input and Output: Case Study of High-tech Enterprises in Shandong Province
Based on the data collected from the questionnaires of the high-tech enterprises in Shandong province of 2010, different regression models have been adopted to test the relationships between enterprise size and R&D input and output. The conclusion is some different from the one obtained from the questionnaires of the private high-tech enterprises in Shandong province of 2008: The regression models have proved that enterprise size has a negative relation with R&D input, whereas no correlation exists between size and R&D output. Such conclusion is not consistent with Schumpeterian Hypotheses. Combined with the study conducted in 2008, as regards of the high-tech enterprises in Shandong province, large-sized companies do not have demonstrated obvious advantages in R&D input and output than the small-sized ones no matter what kind of ownership structure.
