A Comparative review of bauxite mining and alumina refining in China and other parts of the world
The role of Chinas aluminum industry is becomingmore important and has attracted the world attention. It should be pointed out, however, that some details underneath Chinas aluminum industry are quite different from those in other countries. It is beneficial for Chinese producers to understand what has happened in the same area in the world. This article will attempt to compare the practice and characteristics of bauxite mining and alumina refining development in China and the world through the observations on the past. Some basic concepts and data will be explained and described as clues for studying Chinas alumina industry. Also some problems of Chinas bauxite supply and alumina production in the near future are discussed.
