Some insights into gaining value from process models in alumina refining

摘要：

There are several papers in the open literature on the development of process models for alumina refineries, and their application in simulations for what-if analysis and case studies of design and operating scenarios. This paper offers some insights into how these models can be taken further, usually in conjunction with optimisation algorithms and other process systems methodologies, and packaged into added value applications such as heat integration for better design, and performance monitoring for operations. Examples are given for typical process areas where such applications have been found useful.
