Develop a Knowledge Discovery System for Construction Processes
the amount of data stored in the worlds databases doubles every 20 months. Data mining is used to extract hidden knowledge from a data set Knowledge discovery systems are used to extract hidden knowledge from a data set This knowledge wouldnt be readily obtained by traditional means such as queries or statistical analysis. The presented research offers a knowledge discovery system to utilize, analyze and extract the hidden patterns from the project data to predict the work task durations. The system depends on finding the relation between quantitative and qualitative variables, which affect the construction processes, and work task durations. This system consists of five steps: (1) Select the factors that affect the construction process; (2) Generate Fuzzy sets; (3) Define Fuzzy rule and models; (4) build Fuzzy knowledge base; and (5) validate the effectiveness of the built knowledge base to predict the work task durations. The developed knowledge discovery system was validated and compared using the average validity percent criteria on a case study and the results found satisfactory. The developed system benefits both researchers and parishioners because it provides academics with robust knowledge base for construction processes. It also provides practitioners with a system to predict the related task durations for their construction activities.
