A Web-based System for Safety Management of Construction Project
Construction projects tend to have a high possibility of safety accidents compared to the other projects. For this reason, safety management is becoming more emphasized and systemized in construction projects so as to improve the quality of safety management that normally encompass a higher level of accident exposures. Since each phase of a construction project has different types of risk factors in the safety management process, a management system should be tailored to satisfy the specific needs of a particular phase. In this way, various risk factors that arise through the life cycle of a construction project can be constantly checked and monitored. This study reviews basic safety management processes in construction projects in China, and presents a web-based support system for safety management that is closely associated with relevant risk factors and each cycle of sequential management. The system allows easier access than those of stand-alone or intranet systems. Through the proposed system, anyone can access the system anywhere, anytime, with any device. Construction firms are expected to make better safety management in pursuing construction projects with a consideration of key safety factors at each stage of a project.
