Development of Production Rates Database for the Pre-cast Construction Works
Construction industry performance has been declining over a decade therefore many advanced technologies and systematic approaches have been introduced to improve the performance and productivity of the industry. One of the recent approaches used is Industrialized Building System (IBS) to control the quality and enhance project performance and productivity. Various construction productivity models and simulation techniques used for estimation of production rates does not provide results accurately due of lack of valid and reliable information on production rates. Therefore the main objective of current study is to gather the distinct production rates data for the development of database for precast construction works through questionnaire survey approach and to have an understanding of Industrialized Building System. The data obtained through survey questionnaires and interviews from Malaysian industry perspectives has been analyzed statistically using descriptive analysis and it has been concluded that rates obtained can be used as reliable production rates of precast works for database system in Malaysian construction industry.
