Improvement of Competitiveness of Malaysian Bumiputera Contractors Venturing Overseas
Since the establishment of CIDB, various efforts have been taken to promote local construction companies overseas. The effort seems to bear fruits as the statistics shows. More and more larger companies became the permanent players while the not so successful leave the international scene. Lately efforts have been zoom down to second tier and smaller companies especially Bumiputera companies to do so. Despite these efforts, Bumiputera companies have yet to make significant name for themselves in the international contracting arena. This intended research is confined into looking into the business models undertaken by Malaysian companies in venturing abroad. It is also apparent that, as mentioned earlier only a handful of Bumiputera companies are involved in these international ventures. By comparing the various business models, this study will look into specifically Bumiputera construction companies initiatives. This researcher believes that this will be the first study that will discuss operational framework that will be a success factors for Bumiputera construction companies to venture abroad.
