Evaluation for Four Types of Noninvasive Blood Pressure Simulator

Objective: To evaluate the dynamic performance of four types of non-invasive blood pressure simulators available in Chinese market and study the method for evaluation. Methods: The Omron HEM-907 NIBP monitor was used as reference device to test the four types of NIBP simulators. Repeatability and accuracy of each NIBP simulator were analyzed for performance evaluation. Results: The standard deviation of systolic blood pressure of three under tested simulators was less than 1.0mmHg. The standard deviation of CuffLink and BP Pump2L was less than 0.55mmHg. Regarding to the accuracy, the SBP was better than the DBP, which mean bias were less than ± 3.0mm Hg. Conclusion: There are great differences among different types of simulators and NIBP simulators are not currently a complete and reliable substitution for a human subject.. It is imperative to establish the criteria for dynamic performance evaluation on NIBP simulators.
