Study of PCB Rogowski Coil Used for Heavy Current Measurement Application
Rogowski coil centered on printed circuit board (PCB) technique is adopted as a current transformer (CT) system. The printed wire serves as signal coupling and transmission rather than the path for the induced current. Operation mechanism and equivalent circuit of the integrated sensor coil are presented. The proposed CT is introduced to measure the heavy currents both of the low frequency and high frequency characteristics. The low frequency heavy currents ranges from 1 hertz to 130 hertz outputted from the linear induction motor (LIM) powered by the H-bridge sine pulse width modulation (SPWM) inverter. The high frequency heavy current comes from the pulse power plant. The current test apparatus is made of the PCB sensor head and the postprocessing circuit. The postprocessing circuit has characteristics of high reliability, high accuracy, low saturation, and low distortion. Both theory analysis and experimental results can verify the feasibility of the proposed CT instrumentation.
