Using Octree Structure on the GPU to Simulate Liquid Flowing Along the Surface of 3D Object

Texture mapping on the non-parametric surface is complex and difficult. At the same time, physical simulation is very sensitive to the distortion of texture mapping, using a standard 2D parameterization to associate the mesh surface to the density map would not produce good results in general. Therefore, in order to avoid the parameterization, this paper proposes the use of octree texture in the surface to simulate liquid flowing. First of all, establishing the octree surface texture, and then using octree index, real-time computing the color density of the points and their neighborhood on the surface, and finally using the density map as a texture map rendering to the object. In the implementation process, we build octree on the GPL, this use computing power of GPU to achieve realistic effect of liquid flowing along the surface of 3D object.
