Password-based User Authentication for Mobile Device

With the rapid development of wireless and mobile communication technologies, mobile ad hoc networks have received a great deal of attention over the past ten years. Nowadays, more and more electronic transactions for mobile device are implemented on wireless networks. However, Designing a secure and efficient key management protocol is non trivial in ad hot networks than one may appear at first glance due to the fact that the wireless network is much easier to eavesdrop than a wired network. Thus, security mechanisms in ad hot networks are required to protect the wireless communication. Among the security mechanism, user authentication is one of most efficient approach to protect the communication between the terminal user and the server. In this paper, we propose an identity-based user authentication protocol for mobile device on elliptic curve. Compared to previous protocol, our protocol is more efficient so that the proposed protocol can be well applied to mobile device where the computation and storage is limitation.
