Faculty Members of Kerman University of Medical Sciences Participation in Science Production and Investigation of Effective Factors
This research examines the faculty members of Kerman University of medical sciences participation in science production and factors affecting this participation, based on ISI database and a questionnaire. In the first part of the study the list of academic staffs in Kerman University of Medical Sciences was searched through the Web of Science in order to find how many staff published papers in ISI indexed journals. In the second part of the study a questionnaire sent to academic staff who published at least one paper in ISI indexed journals from 2000 to 2009. The results showed that about 74 faculty members in Kerman University of medical science published 133 papers in journals indexed in ISI databases in the period 2000-2007. The greatest numbers of the papers were published in ISI indexed journals in 2007 (48 titles) and the least numbers were published in 2000 (3 titles). The results also indicted that the medical faculty members, with 97 papers, were very active among other faculty members in Kerman University of medical sciences and their papers were cited more than 252 times by other researchers. The results showed that the ability to use English language and research methodology has effect on faculty members in publishing more papers in ISI.
