Relation Between Regional Economic & Social Development and Science & Technology Input & Output of Colleges and Universities--Evaluation Based on Principal Components Analysis and Cluster Analysis

Colleges and universities are a very important component of National Innovation System. This paper has analyzed economic & social development, science & technology input & output of colleges and universities of each province, autonomous region and municipality directly under the central government,explained that there is only a moderate correlation between economic & social development and science & technology input & output of colleges and universities in different regions of China, and that there is a big regional disparity in consciousness and capacity of colleges and universities to serve the local economic development.
