Building World Class Universities in China: An Advanced Evaluation Methodology
A comparative analysis of Chinese universities included in the list of QS and ARWU top 500 was done. Combining with Carnegie College Classification Method and evaluation indexes of ARWU, an advanced evaluation methodology was proposed, in which the citation and per capita factors were integrated. AHP was also used to calculate weights. Furthermore, 17 Chinese universities were reevaluated in terms of academic innovation and com-petitivity, with datum distributing from 2003 to 2007. Analysis of inputoutput ratio and input-performance ratio was also explored. This reevaluation provided a quantitative analysis for building world class university in China under the influence of 985 project.
