Mapping Time-Sliced Research Fronts of JASIS&T 2000-2009 by Using Bibliographic Coupling Analysis
(0) This study used bibliographic coupling analysis method to identify changes of research fronts, here defined as clusters of documents that tend to cite a common set of base documents, based on articles published in JASIS&T in 2000-2009. To study changes, the analyses were time-sliced into two 5-year periods. Mappings of bibliographic coupling in two periods were constructed. Besides we compared the results of bibliographic coupling analysis and others co-citation analysis. The results show that there is a stable structure of two distinct research fields of IS: information retrieval and citation analysis, but topics supporting the two traditional areas have changed over time. It is also shown that co-citation map has a close correspondence with the map of bibliographic coupling.
