Quality Evaluation of Higher Education in China--Based on a Student Satisfaction Survey

According to the application of TQM in education, the primary customer in an education system is the student. The present paper is focused upon student satisfaction to form a scope for evaluating quality in higher education. The student survey on higher education quality in China was implemented based on the questionnaire focusing on student satisfaction. The questionnaire includes 17 items, grouped around 2 major categories (facilities and services, teaching - learning). It was a stratified sample and the number of valid questionnaires is 8 811. The students responses indicate that student satisfaction is generally high. However, the further analysis of responses of categories of students shows that student satisfaction reduces by different levels.
