Application of an Electrochemical NAD Recycling System to an EnzymeReactor
Dehydrogenases utilizing NAD(P)+and NAD(P)H as cofactors are widely used in clinical analysis and in the production of useful reducing materials such as chiral hydroxyl compounds. In particular, glucose dehydrogenase (GDH), utilizing NAD(P)+ as a cofactor, are used in the clinical analysis of glucose in the blood, and on the other hand, GDH is known to convert D-glucose and NAD+ to D-glucono-1, 5-lactone (GL) and NADH.Large amounts of GL are used in the food industry as food additives, as coagulating agents, for soybean curd for example. At present, GL is produced by an aerobic fermentation process.
