Thermodynamic analysis of enantioselectivity of mutant lipases
The importance of enantiomerically pure compounds is rapidly expanding in pharmaceuticals, or organic chemistry. Screening of novel enzyme from natural sources with industrial importance is still attractive. However, it generally takes longer time to reach industrial applications because these enzymes should be of high productivity and stability, which are not easily available for those isolated from natural environments. It is therefore an attractive approach to improve or introduce enantioselectivity to existing industrial enzymes by genetic methods.
