A novel thermophilic lipase from Fervidobacterium nodosum with promising polyester synthesis
Introduction Aliphatic polyesters are a group of remarkably biocompatible and biodegradable polymers, and widely used in biomedical applications, for example, as resorbable implant materials for tissue engineering and as vehicles for drug delivery. At present, commercially available aliphatic polyesters are mainly synthesized using organometallic catalysts with emphasis on aluminium alkoxides and tin carboxylates. However, residues of these catalysts were not tolerated in biomedical applications due to their toxicity.
