Production of single chain antibody against anthrax toxin in Escherichia coli

Introduction Because of high and specific affinities for various biomolecules, stability, and easy production in bacterial hosts such as Escherichia coli, many recombinant antibody fragments such as single chain Fv (scFv), antibody-binding fragment (Fab) etc have been developed and applied to medicine and biotechnology. As one of antibody fragments format, single chain antibody (scAb) in which human Constant kappa domain is connected to carboxy terminus of a single chain Fv (scFv) (figure 1) has a great potential for specific research and clinical trials, because of its small size, improved stability and enhanced pharmacokinetic properties compared to scFv.
