Analysis on Weak Sustainable Consumption in the Economic Growth

摘要：

Weak sustainable consumption means reducing resource consumption in a unit of consumption goods in way of production process improvements or environmentfriendly design. In the optimal economic growth, can the weak sustainable consumption be achieved? This paper use endogenous growth theory to discuss the weak sustainable consumption on the condition of exhaustible resources and the environmental constraints. The Rate of time preference, the elasticity of marginal utility, environmental regulations and technological progress are important to the weak sustainable consumption. The lower the rate of time preference, the greater elasticity of marginal utility, the more stringent environmental control standards, the larger technological progress to offset the diminishing marginal productivity of capital, the more favorable to sustainable consumption weak.
