Measuring Reuse Performance based on an Integrated Multidimensional Analysis Model
Software reuse remains probably the most elusive promise of object oriented programming. Its most important benefits derives from the product line approach to software development, with gains in cost, quality and predictability. Systematic reuse is a complex and difficult objective for an organization and requires discipline, planning and upfront investment Lack of measurement models combined with its inherent difficulty makes it often impossible to estimate the potential gains and evaluate the benefits, making systematic software reuse a difficult business case and lowering its adoption rate. The current research presents the development of a new measurement model based on the MWAF (Multidimensional Weighted Analysis Framework) that gives practitioners a tool to integrate software reuse metrics analysis in familiar project management techniques for measuring software reuse and project performance indicators..
