Semi-Solid Al Alloy Slurry for Rheocasting Prepared by Compound Process
The compound process prepared semi-solid Al alloy slurry was developed, in which local chilling was combined with low superheat pouring and slightly electromagnetic stirring, and the effect of the compound process on morphology and size of primary a-Al in the slurry was researched. The results indicated that the nucleation rate, morphology and grAln size of primary a-Al in the slurry were markedly improved by the compound process. Primary a-Al with small size presented particle-like and distributes uniformly in the slurry, which satisfied to requirement of rheocasting.
