Continuous Casting of Clad Aluminum Slab under Level Direct Current Magnetic Field
In order to obtAln 3003/4004 clad aluminum slab, a level direct current magnetic field is imposed from the outside of a mould, which is divided into left and right sections by a graphite plate, to depress the mixed flow of two kinds of molten aluminum alloy in the mould. During continuous casting, 3003 and 4004 molten aluminum alloys are poured into the left and right parts of the mold through respective shower gating system simultaneously. Solidification structure observation and alloying elements distribution analysis are conducted to characterize quality of the clad slab. The results show that when the current density is 120A, magnetic flux density is 250mT, casting speed is 130mm ?rnin and cooling intensity is 2. 5 m ?h-1 , the direct current magnetic field can restrAln the mixed flow of 3003 and 4004 alloy aluminum melts effectively and a well clad aluminum slab with clean, planar and high strength interface can be prepared, the surface of the clad slab is smooth.
