Improving Machinability of Ductile Iron Automotive Brake Brackets

The machinability of iron casting parts (EN - GJS 550) , even in the same quality, is different in each foundry. To find the reason an intensive study was conducted to correlate the machinability of brackets (anchors) with machining processes and process parameters in the foundry. The mAln machining process is a special broaching process for the brackets. As precondition to this project, all trials and measuring needed to be done during mass production while keeping the ability of fulfilling the delivery demands from the customer
