Mechanical Properties and Abrasive Wear Behavior of a New Low Alloyed MnSiCrB Cast Steel
The microstructure, mechanical properties and abrasive wear behavior of a new low alloyed MnSiCrB cast steel by Alr-cooling and tempering were characterized. The results show that the microstructure consists of granular bAlnite and lower bAlnite/martensite multiphase. The hardness, tensile strength, elongation and impact toughness reach 51 -52HRC, 2000 -2050MPa,4% -6% and 110-160J/cm2 respectively. The wear-resistance is 30% more than that of Hadfield cast steel in the abrasive wear condition. Therefore, the Alr-cooled MnSiCrB cast steel with excellent combination of strength, ductility, impact toughness and wear-resistance is a potential high-performance, low-cost and environment - friendly cast steel due to the simple alloying scheme and heat treatment. In addition, the mechanisms of strengthening, toughening and abrasive wear were also discussed in this paper.
