Study and Processing of Non-metallic Inclusion in Cast Iron
In cupola, the ash of coke, the oxidation of metallic charges and foundry returns and the erosion of cupola lining form the primary slag with high SiOz content. Combined with the CaO from limestone and other oxidations of alloying elements, the end slag is formed. The slag formed in medium frequency induction electric furnace is similar with that in cupola except the materials introduced by coke and limestone. Now, it is difficult to prevent the slag produced by secondary oxidation in cast iron, but its disadvantage could be decreased.
