The Development of Ni-Based Single Crystal Superalloy
Superalloy experienced equal-axis crystal, directional crystal, till the single crystal, it is the result of continuous development of solidification technology and requirement of the increasing work temperature of engine. Directional solidification process is the base stage of forming single crystal part. However, it is also providing the chance of casting defects, such as: stray crystal, freckle, porosity and dendrites etc. Adjusting solidification technology is needed to improve the structure of superalloy and eliminate or decrease the defects. The development of Ni-based single crystal superalloy is normally divided to several generations. The former single crystal superalloy is called the first generation single crystal supperalloy. As the element Re is introduced to Ni-based single crystal superalloy, the third following the second generation single crystal superalloy is presented. Recently the element Ru is introduced to Ni-based single crystal superalloy, thereby the forth and fifth generation single crystal superalloy are worked out.
