Flame retardant and combustion mechanism of layered compound on polymer

INTRODUCTION In the past 20 years, polymer-layered silicate nanocomposites (PLSN) with polymer chains intercalating galleries of adjacent silicate layers to form exfoliated or intercalated nanocomposites, which represent improved or new properties compared with the bulk polymer, have attracted much interest 1,2. Nanocomposite technology has been described as the next great new frontier of materials science because it involves the use of a small quantity of nanoclay and enhances the mechanical, thermal, dimensional and barrier performance properties significantly 2,3.
