Formation of CdS-like Clusters and Luminescence of Hybrid SiO2-coated CdTe NCs
INTRODUCTION An important research topic in emitting semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) is expansion from single-component to hybrid nanostructures for extending the functionality of NCs. High fluorescence quantum yield and stability are required for NCs used in highly sensitive detection. For example, NCs used for various bioapplications are typically coated with an additional shell. Additionally, the presence of a thin-shell, wide-band-gap semiconductor on the NCs substantially improves their photoluminescence (PL) properties and stability.
