Preparation of Graphene/PCL nanocomposites

INTRODUCTION Graphene, a single-atom-thick sheet of sp2-bonded carbon atoms, is the basal building block of all graphitic materials.1 Since it was discovered in 2004,2 Graphene-based materials have attracted considerable attention because of their unique properties such as the excellent mechanical, optical and electrical properties 3-4. Graphene-based polymer materials triggered enormous interest for extremely high thermal conductivity and strong mechanical properties.5In this article, we first prepared graphene modified with terminal alkynes.Subsequently, we functionalized graphene with 3-azido-l-propanol by click chemistry. Graphene-PCL nanocomposites were prepared by ring opening polymerization of e-caprolactone in the presence of hydroxyl functionalized graphene.
