INTRODUCTION The use of functionalized organoclays is known to enhance the flame retardant properties of polymer nanocomposites since they play various roles on quenching the flame. Recently, Si et al. And others have demonstrated that clays can also enhance the efficacy of various formulations for rendering homopolymers flame retardant 1-3.
