Molecular determinants affecting the short-lived protein in mammalian cells
Motivation: Protein turnover metabolism plays an important role in cell cycle progression, signal transduction, and differentiation. Those proteins with short half-life are involved in various regulatory processes. To better understand the regulation of cell process, it is also important to understand protein breakdown in addition to protein synthesis. Until now, most of proteins half-life is unknown for us due to the difficulties of traditional experimental methods in measuring proteins half-life in mammalian cells. To investigate the molecular determinants affecting the protein half-life, a computational method was proposed in this work to recognize those short-lived proteins based on sequence-derived features in mammalian cell.
