STUDY ON ACUTE TOXICITY OF HERBAL FORMULA HUANGBAI ORAL LIQUID

In order to observe the acute toxicity and the maximum tolerated dose of the Huangbai oral liquid, an acute toxicity test was arranged through intragastric administration and lumbar injection. The results were derived from oral intragastric administration of LD_(50)>40g/kg body weight, intraperitoneal injection of LD_(50)>10g/kg for the preliminary test. Therefore, examination of the maximum tolerated dose was initiated. The results demonstrated a maximum tolerated dosage 80 times the dosage administered for the clinical treatment of a calf. According to the evaluation criterion of the animal drug technological specification compiled by the Ministry of Agriculture and the subsequent toxicology, we concluded that the Huangbai oral liquid was a non-toxic Chinese herbal compound preparation.
