TCVM DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF RENAL FAILURE IN DOGS
Although renal failure can be divided into acute or chronic types, either type is a result of a variety of factors, which result in renal units in serious damage. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) describes the flow rate of filtered fluid through the kidney. In renal failure cases, the GFR has dropped, leading to a decrease in the excretion of metabolic waste, and disruption of electrolyte and acid-base balance. Whether it is acute or chronic, a renal failure case usually has the following clinical signs: oliguria or more urine, anemia, vomiting or diarrhea, dehydration, fatigue, heart failure, elevated blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine, acidosis and even shock, or convulsion, etc. Acute renal failure (ARF) occurs very rapidly and seriously. Even though chronic renal failure (CRF) develops slowly, it is often characterized with anemia, dystrophy, skin pigmentation, and skeletal deformities.
