HOW TO USE TCVM FOR THE TREATMENT OF THORACOLUMBAR INTERVERTEBRAL DISC DISEASE
Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) is commonly seen in small animal clinics. The clinical signs of IVDD are back or neck pain, trouble walking, lameness, trouble urinating, paresis and/or paralysis. Disc herniation (a slipped disc) may result in a sudden onset of signs. This can happen in dogs of any age or breed. The incidence of IVDD is about 2% of all dogs, but 25% in the Dachshund population. Other breeds with a high incidence of IVDD include Bassett hounds, Corgis, Dobermans, Pekingese, French Bulldogs, Miniature Poodles, and Beagles.
