DIARRHEA IN THE HORSE
The term diarrhea refers to increased frequency of defecation, with a loose or watery stool. In Western veterinary medicine, it may be due to disorders such as chronic enteritis, intestinal torsion and gastroenteritis. The incidence of diarrhea in the horse is about 10%-14%. The cure rate for diarrhea is 95% when treated while it is mild and at an early stage, and about 60% in more severe, chronic cases.
