Gastrointestinal impaction is caused by dyskinesia and abnormal secretion of the gastrointestinal tract, which allows waste products to stagnate and block the bowels, causing acute abdominal pain. In western medicine, this is equivalent to intestinal obstruction and obstructive intestinal hernias. This kind of disease has an incidence of 10％-15％. The cure rate in the early stages, where there is no secondary infection, is 94％, decreasing to 60％ for cases that have progressed to later stages.
