STUDIES ON THE TREATMENT OF LAMENESS IN HORSES BY ACUPUNCTURE WITH HOT-NEEDLE
Acupuncture with hot-needle, or hot-needle acupuncture is an important part of Traditional Chinese Veterinary acupuncture and moxibustion. The Chinese people have accumulated a wealth of experience in treating livestock diseases for several thousand years. Hot-needle acupuncture is a therapy commonly used in veterinary clinics. The earliest record of hot-needle acupuncture application in veterinary medicine can be found in Nei Jing-Su Wen. In addition, the ancient TCVM book, Yuan Heng Liao Ma Ji ,which was published in the Ming dynasty, has documented detailed information on how to use hotneedle acupuncture for the treatment of special diseases in the veterinary clinic. In hot-needle acupuncture a red-hot needle is inserted into an acupoint as rapidly as possible. This therapy is effective for treatment of lameness in horses. This paper will introduce the application and research of the use of hot-needle acupuncture in the treatment of lameness in horses.
