CFD Simulation Study based on Configuration Design of Outdoor Unit of Household Air Conditioner
Outdoor unit of household air conditioner is studied widely in household air conditioner parts. Optimizing it may improve air conditioner’ EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) better and make its cost lower than optimizing other parts can. To reduce the cost of the household air conditioner and improve its EER, this paper first studies the correlation among configuration of outdoor unit and heat transfer effect and heat transfer area of outdoor unit, and provides novel invariable volume algorithm and invariable heat transfer area algorithm, which furthest optimize heat transfer area of outdoor unit and minimize the case area. As we know, when size of outdoor unit is optimal, heat transfer coefficient and impeller size are not perfect. So, optimizing whole outdoor unit of household air conditioner according to many curves can improve economy. CFD simulation shows, optimizing the outdoor unit improves heat transfer coefficient better, and makes case area smaller, and cost lower. This study may be also popularized to design other air conditioners.
