An Empirical Study on Movie Release Date Decisions
Aiming to predict the demand for on showing movies and forthcoming movies and therefore to make release date decisions, the paper used Gamma model to describe the movie life cycle and analyzed major factors that impact market demand such as the director, the movie stars, sequel, 3D, investment scale, import, and etc. The model provides certain basis for the decision makers in the movie business to make their plan of exhibition.
