Comparison of the Evolutionary Strategies for the Surface Matching Based on Projective Area
This paper presents a research of applying some evolutionary strategies to obtain a 3-D surface from a 2-D patch in automotive styling. The patch is from an automotive sketch. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the surface matching based on the projective area overlapping, the simple strategy, the 1+1 evolutionary strategy, the μ+λ evolutionary strategy, and the improved simple strategy have been investigated to realise the optimal matching. The simulation results demonstrate that all the strategies applied here can tackle the surface matching problem. However, the improved simple strategy - the hybrid strategy - gives the better performances with the example of the windscreen parametric model for the evaluation.
