Experimental Investigation of Reducing Chlorite Content in Iron Concentrates

Chlorite is an iron-bearing aluminosilicate mineral with structural iron ions on the surface. It is similar to iron oxide minerals in flotation properties,so that it is difficult to separate from iron minerals by flotation. In this work,a comparative test of two processes such as single reverse flotation and selective flocculation desliming-reverse flotation was carried out on finegrained iron ore with 14.8% chlorite and 23.1% quartz. The results showed that the grade of iron concentrates increased by 2.15% and the content of chlorite in the concentrates decreased greatly. It is obvious that the process of selective flocculation desliming-reverse flotation has advantages in improving the concentrate grade and reducing the chlorite content.
