Application of steerable pyramid decomposition in minor faults imaging
Minor faults portraying correctly is important in the reservoir characterization for exploration and exploitation activity. The characteristic of minor faults in seismic data is marginal, but the basic theories and methods of edge detection now are limited. In the paper, the basic principle of decomposition and construction of Steerable Pyramid which is used to detect minor faults is introduced in detail. When the image was input, we can not only analyze the characteristics and distribution of faults in different scales and orientations after decomposition of Steerable Pyramid, but also get faults in itself not the marginal through the dominance of function S. The application of Steerable Pyramid decomposition in a real time slice proves that the application of Steerable Pyramid to detect and image the minor faults is successful. But the effect is susceptible to parameters, such as k, T, and smoothing parameter, which are selected based on the characters of inputting figure.
