Study of non-uniform ground motion under complicated ground
Ricker wavelet is a zero phase wavelet. The acceleration and displacement of seismic wave always change with different distant observation in the circumstance of complex geological structure. In this study, the non-uniform ground excitation is performed by using Ricker wavelet in the valley region, and dominant frequencies of Ricker wavelet with 0.5 Hz and 1 Hz are considered. The ground displacement responses are simulated by using Finite Element Method and Boundary Element Method on the ground. The result reveals that the propagation of the seismic wave is overestimated in the complex geological structure, The ground displacement shows obvious non-uniformity in soft soil. The propagation path of seismic wave is reestablished after across valley area in soft soil. The arrival time of seismic wave is different due to incident wave angel. The smaller the incident angel, the more obvious non-uniform ground motion can be caused. The different structural dynamic responses are excited during the non-uniform ground motions.
