Theoretical seismograms of rayleigh wave in saturated half space

Poroelastic saturated half space can generate Rayleigh surface wave propagating along the free surface, similar to elastic medium; In this study, base on Biot poroelasic wave motion functions, with potential functions of the solid frame displacements and the pore fluid relative displacements, and mathematical integral transform approach: Fourier transform with respect to the time and the frequency and Hankel transform with respect to the space and the wave number, the theoretical seimograms of wave field about surface waves in saturated porous medium with the free boundary conditions are derived in frequency wave number domain. By applying Peak Trough Average Method (PTAM) method to cope with oscillatory Bessel function integrations in Hankel transform, the result of theoretical analytical seismograms of wave field about surface waves in time domain are ultimately derived. Numerical examples confirm the efficiency and the validity of the method by comparing the theoretical seismograms of the PTAM and Cagniard-De Hoop method in elastic medium. And in the theoretical seismograms of saturated half space, bearing an analogy to elastic medium, obvious intense energy of surface waves appears, which mainly correspond to the first kind of surface waves which possibly exist in poroelastic half space medium, and the energy of surface wave distributes both in the solid frame and pore fluid. These theoretical solutions give an idea of the format of an analytical study on the characteristics of surface wave in poroelastic medium or other complex multiphase mediums, and consolidate the theoretical fundament to further research on the characteristics of surface wave propagation in different multiphase mediums.
