Parameter improvement of cole-cole model for the large dielectric enhancement of rocks
In order to understand the large dielectric enhancement of rocks at low frequencies, we recur to the previous measurement on dielectric constant and calculate the parameters of Cole-Cole model. The result indicates that the large dielectric enhancement often occurs in water-saturated rocks at very low frequencies. There is a relationship between the enhanced static dielectric constant of water-saturated rocks and that of dried rocks. The electrode polarization may be the main cause of large dielectric enhancement at very low frequencies. The static dielectric constant estimated from Cole-Cole model is affected seriously by pore water and can not represent the dielectric constant of the rocks at low frequencies. We give the enhanced static dielectric constant a new definition and find out a relationship between the enhanced static dielectric constant of wet rocks and the static dielectric constant of the dried rocks.
