Wavelet analysis on the results of compact grouting detected by means of ground penetrating radar
Compact grouting is one of the in common use methods of emergency treatment on engineering accident. Its effect relies on the distributing range (into the soil) and concretion rate of slurry. The possibility of testing the effects by means of ground penetrating radar (GPR) is discussed through the analysis on the difference of electrical properties and image character between slurry and surrounding soil. And the basic principle of wavelet analysis is introduced. Then one example is presented to reinforce the maintenance engineering of foundation pit using compact grouting. Here we presented not only the original GPR image but also the results processed using wavelet analysis, in order to help remove noise, enhance resolution, and get a better interpretation effects. Water is stopped through remedial grouting according to the distribution of slurry from the GPR image and wavelet analysis results. All these above demonstrate that GPR can be used to detect the distribution range of compact grouting.
