The causes analysis and detection to collapse on civil roads
Surface collapse, as a dynamic geology phenomenon, is caused by natural and anthropic factors which make the upper rocks and soil masses collapse downwards, including karst collapse and non-karst collapse caused by underground hydrodynamic action. Especially, the collapse occurring in city can cause a series of disasters, seriously affecting the normal traffic of transportation, citizens living, and the order of production and municipality. This paper analyses in detail the collapse hazard of surface in city based on its causal relation, discusses the effective detection technologies used for investigating environment in which collapse may exist in, and shows the availability to use geophysical techniques in detecting perilous collapse in combination with successful cases. Finally, it points out the reasonable methodologies and fundamental measures to treat and predict the road collapses in municipal areas.
