Urban underground drainage network investigation of ground penetrating radar
Most urban underground drainage systems consist of underground drainage canal, cement pipe, enameled tubes and other nonmetal pipe. The ground penetrating radar can be employed to detect those that cannot be detected by means of general underground detecting instruments. It is the most effective and feasible method to detect nonmetal pipeline with the ground penetrating radar. Characterized by trenchless and non-destructiveness, it is the preferred device to detect nonmetal pipeline. The detection capacity of the ground penetrating radar for nonmetal pipeline overcomes the deficiencies of pipeline detector which only detects the metal pipeline. In the investigation of urban underground pipeline network, the ground penetrating radar has been the necessary detection device for professional construction teams. This study simply introduces some basic principle of ground penetrating radar, describes the technology of underground penetrating radar, and illustrates the application effect of this technology with the example.
